REMNANT Vintage? Fabric Sanderson Drapery Golden Lily Minor William Morris John Dearle 1899 50cm x 26cm
$6.00
FABRIC & STOCK INFORMATION
Fabric/Fibre: this is one of my favourite colourways in any fabric and I have kept this fabric for that specific reason...alas, it's time to let her go. This is a Sanderson cotton drapery fabric featuring the very well known Golden Lily Minor in aqua-blue, greens, blues and violet on a pale olive base. The design is often attributed to William Morris (even on this selvedge), but it was designed by Morris & Co's John Henry Dearle three years after Morris died. This drapery fabric has a lovely thickness and will last years and years. Please note the photos are of a longer piece of fabric.
Era: I have often tried to age this specific fabric. The design was released in 1899 and broke through in 1960s 'pop' culture. Sanderson was known to date their 80s fabrics on the selvedge, but in saying that you can't date this fabric as the pattern is dated 1899. I think this was manufactured in the 1980s, but I could be incorrect.
Condition: this remnant was used in a curtain, has some fade but it still very bright as you can see, no selvedges.
